And of course you get uninvited visitors when you have such an arrangement. Why these people don't pick a hotel instead, is a mystery to me though.

Technology these days...
When I was in school, I had problems concentrating on my homework
because I had my PC with broadband on the same desktop. There's nothing
I could do about it; I just could not concentrate on the studying. It
was impossible to keep myself from IRC and ICQ.
Now I spoke to a friend of mine with the same problem. Times have
changed though, he has a TFT monitor, which he can simple move to the
other room, disabling him from using the computer.
It's not fair! In my time there were only CRT monitors!
Though is it all bad? Well, if I didn't drop out of school, my life
would have been completely different. I would have had a different job,
and would never have met my wife. It's not all bad, that I dropped out
of school.

Mickeysoft is scared!
As you've probably read elsewhere, Microsoft is announcing on-line versions of their OS and certain applications, on live.com.
I figured I'd give it a try. First thing I did was surf to the page as
normal. I got a page that looked suspiciously much like Personalized google.
The funny thing was, that at the very top of the page, it said:
Firefox Users
Firefox support is coming soon. Please be patient :-)
Well then. Microsoft really seems to be desperate, they've never shown support for different browsers. Remember how the MSN website was found incompatible with Opera?
Exactly.
Anyhow, I figured I'd go for the full experience, and fire up my buggy
copy of Internet Explorer. It showed me the personalized google ripoff,
but then without the firefox message. I hit the sign up button and fill
out the form. It didn't ask me for my complete address and phone number
for a change, and it even had a "password strength" option, which did
not appear to work yet.
After going through all that, it told me that my email address was
already used and that I already had an account if I was signed up to
MSN. Well, it could've told me that before, but unfortunately it didn't.
So I login with my MSN info and get presented with a menu with three
options: My Web, Gadgets, Categories. The most appealing to click on
was of course Gadgets, which gave me a few options: Mail, Stock Quotes,
Weather Forecasts, Horoscopes, Ticking Clock, Shopping, Welcome. All
things looked boring, though one was a bit intriging: Ticking Clock.
After clicking on that, I get presented a small java app that shows me
the the time, the seconds counting on my screen. That's revolutionary!
It didn't even give me the server time by the way, but my own system
time instead, so if your PC clock is broken, this thing is even less
usefull.
Exploring a bit more: Clicking on Mail gives me the option to log into
hotmail(yuck) or join the beta of windows live mail. That sounds like
fun! I click the link to sign up for the beta. It shows me a page with
buzzwords and info, like this paragraph:
Your Security
Windows
Live is being designed to let you take charge of all the elements of PC health
and security—whether it's related to IM, e-mail, virus scanning, or anything
else. No stress, just seamless, comprehensive care.
HAHAHAHA! Microsoft's always good for a few laughs.Anyway, after
clicking through a couple of confusing windows (it looked like about 5,
of which i saw the same one about three times) I got a page that showed
me the products and apps they are going to produce. Loads of them are
not done yet, but I continue to sign up for the beta of Windows Live
Mail. In order to carry on I need to agree to two license agreements,
one is the standard MSN one, and the other one was completely blank. Oh
no, it showed me a vertical line on that site, I believe.
I filled out my email address and it told me it would send me a mail
for the invitation to the beta soon. Guess I'll keep checking my spam
folder for that.

CD drives.
The motor that makes the tray of a CD drive go in and out is far from
powerfull enough. When I used to work in techsupport, I never had a
phonecall from people complaining that the tray knocked their drink
over their keyboards. I would love to have one of those calls.

Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story
Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story (2005) (V)
Watched that today. Great movie, really excellent, but isn't every cartoon from Fox.
If you haven't watched it yet and really care about the plot, don't
read ahead. If you haven't wachted it but don't care about the plot
either like I would, then I guess you could read ahead, but you
wouldn't understand it. Basically, this is only for people that have
seen it. And have payed enough attention to follow the plot. Which I
normally wouldn't have, but in this case, I have.
Anyway, my point is: It's not right. I know, it's a cartoon, of course
things happen that couldn't happen in real life but that's not the
point here. Now that stewie saved himself from having that dramatic
experience, his older him would have turned out completely different
and would never have made that holiday on which he met stewie, so then
he would never have helped the younger stewie from saving himself,
which mean everything would turn out exactly like it was in the first
place. Which would mean that he would have met his older self, which
would help him not have that experience, which is not possible, as you
just read above. I don't get it! It's too confusing! Argh!
